La Esquina Latina (LEL) humbly began in 1974 with the sole purpose of bringing Latino culture into WPKN 89.5 FM listeners’ homes regardless of ethnicity or language. The broadcast focuses on the cultural significance of lyrics, syncopated rhythms, and melodic runs of Puerto Rican and Afro-Cuban songs, including Latin Jazz. Luis has been keeping la musica Latina alive since 1974 with his foundational mantra: “Remember…it’s not about me, it’s all about the music!”.
