Richie Bertran’s passion for Afro-Cuban music was ignited in 1964 after listening to Eddie Palmieri’s Echando Pa’lante album. Growing up in New York City, he immersed himself in the genre by listening to premier 1960s and 70s radio programs, such as the Dick Ricardo Sugar and Symphony Sid shows. In 1999, he met Vicki Sola, sparking a two-decade collaboration where he periodically produced and co-hosted her iconic Que Viva La Musica show. Today, he brings his deep-rooted knowledge and history of the NYC salsa scene to his own listeners.
