Victor Rosa

Show Picando Duro Salsa Show
Timing Wednesday | 6 – 8 PM EST

Hi, I’m Victor Rosa, aka Dj Vic. As far back as I can remember; It’s preschool days and I’m sitting on the floor playing with my choo-choo trains on a small circular track while singing with my Mom Latin tunes coming out of our radio.

Growing up in the lower west side of Manhattan, I was the one that always carried a small portable radio. Singing practically every tune that was played. Being able to remember the tunes I heard, my buddies formed a doo-wop group. Then I began buying 45 rpm records. As a result, I was given the opportunity to DJ at our Community Center dances with one turntable. In my teen years, we moved to the Bronx.

Mesmerized by what I saw and heard, I was drawn to the parks by the sounds of Conga drums. I knew right then, that that’s what I wanted to do, play Congas. I bought myself a set of drums and practised playing at home with records, especially with the music of the Joe Cuba Sextet. Soon I was participating in jam sessions in the parks too. Then I felt right at home playing with bands. I joined a group called the “Willie Martinez Y Su Combo Monterey.”We played in the tri-state cuchifrito circuit. We did a live Spanish TV show. Did a live concert gig at the then famous TEATRO PUERTO RICO in the Bronx. Went into the nightclub business, still providing music to the masses. Today I’m living my ultimate dream, producing and hosting my own radio shows. Playing The Best Salsa of today and classics of yesterday on the “RITMO LATINO RADIO SHOW” on WICB 91.7 FM, and worldwide at www.wicb.org Saturdays from 6 pm till 8 pm for the past 23 years out of Ithaca, New York. And also a live internet radio show called, “Picando Duro Salsa Show” La Casa De La Mejor Salsa at www.mundosalsaradio.com Wednesdays from 6 pm till 8 pm. I’m so grateful that I can continue to bring happy moments to people’s lives through music.
“QUE VIVA LA SALSA!”
